Place and Space, 2020
The spaces that make up our lives are what fuel this work as I attempt to capture a feeling produced by familiar environments and dive into the nuances of the places we call home. Through exploration of the concept of place and space, I seek to create artwork that brings my viewer into an environment which stimulates curiosity for the everyday spaces that surround us. This comes through in my work by using a variety of materials and media such as wood, paint, paper, and fabric.
The work I produce does not seek to create metaphors for life, but to simply call attention to the spaces that we move through, live in, and experience everyday. Memories are often attached to the senses, and it is my goal to capture some of those familiar feelings. All of my work makes use of my memories attached to personal spaces, specifically my home, but in the process of transforming into art, they become your spaces too.
