About
In college, I spent so much of my time learning how to make art in the traditional sense—very focused on pushing boundaries and making grand statements. I was saturated with fine art, history, and the life of the contemporary artist. It was exciting and terrifying and fun and frustrating.
During my time in school, I began to look to both memories and the spaces that made up my life for inspiration. I was striving to create something that fullfilled the requirements of my training while also satisfying my desire to lean towards what was so often deemed just a touch “cliche” by the art world. My work looks a little different now—I’m making art for me and not for academia. For me, this looks like playing with paper, paint, gouache, photos, etc. and turning moments and scenes into stories and dreamy environments. I am most often inspired by interesting spaces and locations and am endlessly striving to make things that bring joy and beauty to myself and others.
Please look around. Thank you so much for being here.
Enjoy,
Cathryn
